" A morning in the mountains and with history. "
4 out of 5 stars
A short drive from the centre of Madrid, El Escorial is a spectacular structure situated just above the pretty small town of Escoril. It is an imposing building that can be seen from me les around and is surrounded by mountains. The Basicala has some beautiful features, the painted ceiling, the dome, the high altar amongst them. There are a number of courtyards, a historic library and works of art to be seen.. The grounds are lovely with views of the surrounding land. I really enjoyed my hours there.
