The Valley of the Fallen is a monument built as a memorial of those who died during the Spanish Civil war. Located in the beautiful Valley of Cuelgamuros, in the Mountains of Guadarrama, this impressive work has a colossal cross over 150 mts.high,and the Basilica and Crypt excavated in the hard rock under the mountain.

Ik schrijf in het Nederlands, omdat dit gemakkelijker ie en Madrid City Tours waarschijnlijk een Nederlandse onderneming is. De tour was goed, de reisleidster (Christina??) was leuk en gaf goede informatie. Het lijkt me goed dat op het Internet aangegeven wordt hoe je er met het openbaar vervoer in Madrid komt. Kleine moeite lijkt mij. Ik was uitgestapt bij de metrohalte San Bernardo van metrolijn 2, maar moest nog vrij ver lopen naar de Calle San Bernardo 7. Beter was het als ik bij de halte Noviciado was uitgestapt. Dat is een stuk dichter bij.

The guide explained all the history and heritage in the most knowledgeable manner. The trip was a treat for all those who are interested in Christian Heritage and History. Fabulous memorable excursion.
