Fitur, the International Tourism Trade Fair in Madrid
FITUR is a global meeting point for tourism professionals and the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound Ibero American markets. It celebrates its 34th staging from January 22 to 26, 2014. This event is one of the leading forums worldwide for the tourist industry and the first event on the international tourism calendar, taking place in Madrid.

IFEMA carries out studies on business opportunities in fields which interest exporters and helps those companies and professionals participating at trade fairs.The Prince and the Princess of Asturias inaugurated the trade fair which is expected to generate an economic impact estimated at some 180 million euros, will bring together an extensive range of destinations and the best tools when it comes to enhancing business, promotional and marketing strategies within the field of tourism. The trade fair, which will feature the participation of nine thousand companies from 165 countries and expects to attract more than 200,000 visitors, will have an important economic impact on the City of Madrid. That demonstrates the importance of FITUR on the international circuit of tourism sector events.


FITUR will occupy an exhibition area measuring 54,000 sq. metres, distributed throughout Halls at Feria de Madrid. One of the main added-value aspects of the trade fair will once again take the form of FITUR’s different monographic sections, consisting of a series of different trade meetings and conferences, as well as the corresponding exhibitions areas. These sections have grown and developed over the years, offering different forums for business and analysis within the industry.


FITUR Gay 2014 introduces members of the industry to the LGBT Market, which accounts for 15% of worldwide travel expenditure. It will provide the ideal setting for professionals to discover all of the products and services aimed at this growing tourist market. In this respect, alongside the exhibition area, participants in this section of the trade fair will find an extensive programme of conferences and roundtables.


We must bear in mind that tourism has become an important business within the realm of international trade, based on a turnover that is high as or even surpasses activity that several industries. In this respect, it is an activity that must be made compatible with nature and society.
