EL ESCORIAL: It is a Basilica, a Palace and a Royal Pantheon (a sixteensided poligon covered with dark marble), a monastery and a famous library. Declared Human Heritage, it is a symbol of the Spanish Power in the XVI century and commemorates the San Quintin Battle. It is also a mausoleum for  Charles V. The symmetry and balance of the construction according to the humanist Renaissance style made it considered the eighth wonder of the world for a long period of time. The visit includes the Hapsburgs Palace, Kings and Princes Mausoleum, Chapter Houses and the Basilica.

VALLEY OF THE FALLEN: This enormous monument built between 1940 and 1959 to honour the Spaniards killed during the civil War is located 9 km away from El Escorial. It is a Basilica excavated in the mountain at 1350 m of altitude above sea level where an impressive 150 m high cross places itself over the magnificent nature reserve of Madrid mountain range.
