Aranjuez is located 50 kilometres away from Madrid. It was built during the reign of the Catholic Kings and since then, it is a symbol of the Spanish crown. The site includes the Royal Palace (former royal residence), the Casa del Labrador (house used as shooting box), Museo de Faluas (museum of a special type of boat) and beautiful gardens with sculptures, built during the reign of the Bourbons in the XVIIIth Century.
70 kilometres away from Madrid, another of Spain’s cities considered as World heritage, the historic city of Toledo. Part of the tour will be done by foot, enjoying this beautiful medieval city, old capital of Spain, which even today holds the quarters of the Cardinal Primate and where the painter El Greco lived for most of his life.
Inside the XIIIth-Century gothic Cathedral, the Treasure with the Custodia del Oro (Monstrance of gold), the Choir, the Chapterhouse and the Sacristy where some works of El Greco, Goya and Tiziano can be seen, stand out.
The synagogue Santa Maria la Blanca is a XIIth-century building. It is one of the 10 synagogues that Toledo had as a symbol of the Spanish tolerance and of the coexistence of three cultures: Christian, Moslim and Jewish.
The Iglesia de San Juan de los Reyes was built during the XVth Century under the Catholic King's reign. It is a beautiful example of the Isabelian art and its cloister stands out due to its mudejar coffered ceiling.
